I AM A VOTE FOR
* No more Mass housing development that has created the flooding and burden on infrastructure and ecosystem
* FOREVER preserving nature and preventing further decimation of our natural lands and water ways
* We need Common Sense Development
* Toilet to Tap (Reverse Osmosis, Aquifer Replenish Project, Deep Well Storage Tanks are common names for this project) is where "treated sewage," the non-potable blackwater, is pumped directly into the aquifer via deep well injection.
* I'm collecting petitions to stop Toilet to Tap - always the active volunteer to make change in my community.
* Stop sending the sewage to a processing plant.
* Use Incinerating toilets in the household just like Sweden, Finland, Brazil, Netherlands, and Canada. No more septic tanks, no more sewage lines or waste operational plants.
* It saves over 2,000 gallons of water a day, has zero pollution or emissions, sterile ash is produced, and only uses 1.5-2 k/H.
* That's $0.22-$0.30 per burn.
* Mandatory catchment systems for all new housing development with water tank storage.
* Desalination on our coastline would run about 2.5/3.5 KWH/M and can produce up to 3.9 million gallons/day.
* Large Scale De-humidifier would use 1.5-3.3 kW and can produce 10-30 gallons of water a day depending on the size of the humidifier. An average person uses 30gal a day
* It's time for Volusia to return to CORE GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITIES; roads, sidewalks, security, safety, public transportation, hospitals and schools. That's what taxpayers expect, and that's what they deserve.
* Common Sense is missing in our leaders and it's time we start electing those who have morals and clear logic without agenda
* I'm looking to make some big changes at county level starting with the bureaucrats that have been running the council from behind the scenes.
* The manipulation has been self evident with the way our leadership has been voting and conducting business.
Melissa is a retired Cardiac/Stroke Rehabilitation Nurse of 12 years who went on to become a Yoga Therapist, choosing to care for clients in their home outside the construct of BIG MEDICINE so she could focus on healing.
She works as a clinical lab specialist and serves as the Credentialing Director for her husband's medical education company. Never one to stop learning, Melissa is apprenticing in the restoration and repair of airplanes and boats mastering the fine craft of fiberglass. She serves as the State Secretary for The America First Party of Florida.
A Registered Republican for 28 years, Melissa grew tired of the inner politics of the Uniparty. She is a proud America First Conservative, and her outspoken leadership grounded in Christian morality led to her being pushed out by the official Republican Party of Florida. She wears it as a badge of honor for someone who refuses to compromise her principles.
Melissa has been a active participant for election security and integrity, meeting with legislators, traveling to Tallahassee, and corresponding with state leadership. She currently serves as Assistant Clerk during elections and has worked on several local campaigns.
She has donated countless hours to improving her city, county, state, and country only to watch unchecked development continue, our water, land, and animal habitats deteriorate, flooding worsen, and taxes remain high while county spending grows.
It's time for a big change Volusia!
Time for a THORNE on VOLUSIA'S SIDE.
Melissa has a deep love for the outdoors of West Volusia. She spends her time gardening, birding, boating on our local waterways, motorcycles, camping in her vintage 1971 VW Bus, traveling, hiking, and painting the landscapes she will work so hard to protect.
She attends Life Point church and lives in DeLand with her husband of 23 years. Melissa is a devoted caregiver to her father and sister, and she shares her home with her two dogs, Dixie and Orbit, and her cockatiel, Winston.
Her commitment to faith, family, and community is at the heart of everything she does, and it's the foundation of the leadership she will bring to Volusia.
